He had lingered a lot longer than he had planned, but Martini was finding it harder to leave than he had initially planned. The fact so many were just willing to forgive and forget was agitating, but at the same time relieving. But everywhere he turned Martini was assaulted by the ghosts of the pasts. Here was the kitchen where he had broken Tandy’s ribs, there was the hallways where he had murdered Speed. He swore to God that the teen’s ghost was haunting him, or maybe that was just the hallucinations catching up with him. Either way, he was tormented wherever he went. It was a particularly nasty vision of nearly killing Layla that finally gave him the motivation he needed.

Mark had waited until it was in the early hours of the morning, then grabbed his bags and made his way through the quiet mansion. Hopefully there would be no one around to watch him sneak out of Fortes like a thief in the night.
