Playing the role of the best friend

Jun 23, 2010 23:24

After his conversation with Buffy and a coincidental conversation with a stranger it didn't take him long to get his hands on what he liked to call the company car. Sure, it was his - until someone else needed it. But, right now, they didn't and even if someone needed a ride, Giles had one as well and this was more important.

Buffy had done her own thing. He had understood that to an extent. In a way, she had always been isolating herself. Part of him couldn't help but think that Buffy felt disconnected because she disconnected herself. To Xander, it was her pattern.

But, right now, he separated his gripes from the love for his best friend. And he did what any protective best friend would do. He drove to an address on a flier he had been given - without letting said best friend know he was coming. It was the least he could do.

She thought it was over. She thought he was simply happy for her. And, he was. A part of him was - on some lower, subterranean level.

Parking outside the gates, he climbed out of his car and got a good look at Buffy's new surroundings. He closed the car door and made his way up to the front door, ready to knock. Sighing, he took a moment before actually knocking, resting a hand in his pocket after.
