The obligatory New Year's Eve post

I was going to have a quiet New Year's with held_enthrall visiting, which is how I kind of like it, because I tend to have horrible luck when I "do" anything on this night. Then some friends from out of town said that New Year's Eve would be the only night they could visit me, and I thought, hey, if that's the only night, that's the only night.

Somehow, it has now turned into a party of 9 people, 1 of whom is not yet 4 years old.

I really, really hope the evening goes okay...
