Did I mention that I love Wendy?...

I now feel much less groused about the late start for the 07.07.07 Prince concert.  The Star Tribune requires registration before you can view articles, and they remove access to them after a couple of weeks, so I'm just going to post an excerpt from Jon Bream's story below:

Wanna know why Prince might have been so late for his three shows Saturday?
At noon, he had one of his people call guitarist Wendy Melvoin, formerly of Prince & the Revolution, and summon her from L.A. to play that afternoon in Minneapolis.

After leaving her 14-month-old son with grandma, Melvoin headed to the airport. She couldn't arrive in time for the 4 p.m. performance at Macy's (which actually started at 5:10). In fact, she landed in the Twin Cities at 9:15 p.m., 45 minutes after the Target Center show was scheduled to begin.

Melvoin had performed with Prince in the past two weeks at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel so she was relatively up to speed. But when she got to Target Center, she received a surprise: "We're opening with 'Purple Rain,' " Prince said. "You're on."

It was grab your guitar and hit the stage at 10:05 p.m.
