Hey, just found this recently. I had an abortion in early December, a surgical, and I really enjoyed reading all through your experience. It was so similar to mine, with the cavalier attitude in the beginning and the fits of emotion towards the end. But my crying jags came just before the abortion, because I had mine at 10 or 11 weeks and I think it's something about the hormone progression.
I really identify with what you said about not regretting the abortion, but regretting being so goddamn stupid to have needed one in the first place. You start to wonder who you are when you actually have to live out your pre-conceived opinions on issues like that.
I'm sorry the boy isn't coughing up the cash. He really should pay for some of it. I never told my boyfriend and I thought I was going to have to pay all of it, but we get medicaid coverage for abortion in New York State. So I applied for medicaid, got approved after convincingly demonstrating that I am earning below the poverty level (still in college), and didn't have to pay a dime. If you ever need it again, you can come back to Queens, stay with me, and not get so goddamn broke!
Seriously, this guy sounds like he's being a dick. Not financially supporting the consequences of your actions, whatever they are, is irresponsible -- moreso when they involve screwing over someone other than yourself. I hope you get what you need from him, and I'm happy to hear that this is the worst after-effect you've been dealing with from the whole ordeal!
