And Finally....The End

Fading Suns game wrapped weekend before last.  It ran over 2 years, and took the PC's from first level to 20.  There are some real highlights in my memory of this game, things I will cherish because they were, to me, a success.  Friendships nurtured and fractured, both.  Love found, ideals betrayed, love lost.  Horizons opened, paths changed.  The potential for epic was there, though perhaps not quite realized.  There were also, of course, some pits that I'd just as soon forget, but I won't because I need to learn from them in case there's a next time I'm DM.

One sign of success, I think, is that the aftermath of the game is uncertain.  The PC's won the battle, but the war will continue.  An actual war was brewing, and the actions of the PC's didn't stop that momentum.  If anything, they fueled it...though they didn't have much choice, to be honest.  The demon had a long, long time to plan.  If we'd kept going, the drama would have become intense as the party fractured.  I already know that two of the PC's wouldn't have gone with the general consensus of the party, and at least one of them would most likely have killed to gain the artifact.  They still didn't know exactly what the artifact did, nor how to make it work.  That in and of itself could have taken months of game time and much hilarity...or PC death (smile).

I learned a lot, and had a very good time.  Thank you to my players.  You brought the PC's to life in my mind.
- Azlyn, Brother Battle (no longer?), sometimes the only calm one in the party...but not often.
- Khayman, Living Weapon/Servant of the Light (created prestige class, worked well within the concept of the game), going from innocent to well-traveled.
- Greldkin, Vorox Scraver, still trying to find his pack.
- Mateo/Priest, Theurge Amalthean, falling off the path a few times but always ending up back on it.
- Ivor, Decados Noble/Knave/Soldier, the most honorable Decados I've never met.
- Raekoth, Pentiant (not by choice) Ur-Obun Psychic/Theurge, one of the most random elements of the group sometimes.
- And finally, Devlin, Techie, who didn't betray the party...at least not much (grin)/Lotar, (what the hell was he again?), in complete denial of his heritage/Mitch, Engineer, knowing that being drunk is the only way to make things work.

Again, thank you.  I apologize for the poor ending, but hope you had a good time overall.
