The last couple weeks have been entirely too hectic, but the holidays are finally here! Christmas Eve rocked, even though I worked until 4:30 and then ran out to do some last minute shopping before going to dinner at Jean and Phil's (Nick's mom and stepdad). It was awesome. We chatted with Matthew, Kaitlin, Jeanne, Phil and Dave for hours, had wonderful dinner, exchanged gifts, showed everyone the wonders of "failblog.org" and left full, happy, and very sleepy close to midnight.
Today, we've got lunch with my Mom. She's already given us her presents (which I hope she remembers) and we made ham, stuffing and mashed potatoes to bring over (fudge for dessert), but we might take her out to Shari's (if she's in a fearful mood - I'm pretty good about picking up from her face whether or not she's worried about us slipping poison into food, and always looks relieved when I suggest we go out to eat - perhaps that's catering to the illness, but it means we have much fewer incidences).
Overall, I'm very thankful for everything. I have had a wonderful year. There have been some bumps, but I'll take any bruise if it means I get to experience the joys of living and knowing the people I do. I miss some of the people that I won't see in the coming year (I love you Grampa G., wherever you are), but I know now that new people move in (Phoebe and John!) and make you realize that while everything changes, sometimes that change is just what you need. I have a lot of things that need to work on, but I am so grateful for what I have. Waking up to a kiss from Nick and a sleepy "Merry Christmas" tops my list of the bestest ever Christmas presents. Chatting with Deb about memories this morning was also great. The slobbery kisses Joy and Vash gave my feet upon climbing out of bed is also pretty high up there. :)
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!
