Hail from the Carribean
Hey everyone,
I'm on day 2 of my trip in St. Maarten. This entry will be kinda short 'cause I only have 15 min. of time paid for. I'm working on finding a Wi-fi zone that works on my dad's laptop, but until then... yeah.
New Year's Eve sucked because I was uncharacteristically homesick. Hehe. All around me at midnight were couples so I missed Tif something fierce. So, I walked to the beach to watch the fireworks and there were four or five people smoking joints, so I missed my housemates. ;)
Today was pretty cool. I slept kinda late. Had breakfast on a beach. Then w/ our recently arrived rental car we went shopping in Old Town Phillipsburg. They, as expected, haggle here. I didn't buy anything at first, but helped my family buy things for reasonable prices. Right when we were about done, I broke down and bottle a few bottles of liquer at this shop. I don't know yet if I can get the Absinthe home, but I bought a bottle just in case. Someone be a doll and do a search on the for me and comment so I know. I also bought a liter of Captain (for $7). Rum is cheaper than coke here in small amounts because they make in the Carribean and there's no tax on it too. I also bought a fifth of some special rum that I'll reveal when I return (because I'm buzzed and I can't remember the name of it right now), but they only sell it in the Carribean.
Tomorrow, I hope to see about renting a scooter so I have free reign on the island. Phone calls cost anywhere from 2.10 a min. to 15.00 a min. and you can't really tell where it is landing in between there so I won't really being calling anyone until I get back to the States.
I miss you all and I can't tell you how much I wished several of you were w/ me today as I was fucking about.
