Now, second, Kimbley is responsible for a hefty chunk of the FMA anime's plot.
Kimbley is the cause behind Scar doing like he does with the State Alchemists, since he scarred him and did away with his arm, and him getting his brothers arm and all that jazz. That leads into the killings and related things.
Kimbley is the reason Ed didn't make the philosopher's stone int he fifth Lab. When he went splodey, that option passed, the series continued, no stone was made and they had angst and Maes death.
Kimbley makes whatever deal he made that gets most of the chimera killed. Face it, if he'd wanted to stay with them, then the military wouldn't have been able to stop them from escaping. Thus there was Greed death and more angst.
Leads into the military stuff in Lior, and whammo, Scar and his stone ideas. Kimbley does a 'slow ass transmutation of doom' and Scar decides the boy shall be the stone! Voila, philosophers stone.
So, people, anyone Else have any points to add to the lovely 'Kimbley caused the plot' theory?
