Nothing New

NanoWrimo is going well at the moment. I am at 20,465 words right now, but I haven't done my writing for the day yet. I was pretty behind last Friday but I spent the weekend catching up. Now I am only at a day behind. I am hoping to at least maintain that until the weekend where I can again catch up. Alan is also participating in NanoWrimo and right now he has a similar word count. I am amazed at his progress and determination with this project. He is working 45 hours a week and still going strong with his novel. I'm quite proud of him. I am pleased with the way my story is going right now, but this month has shown me where I am lacking as a writer. Almost my entire novel thus far is dialogue. It's wonderful dialogue, but it reads more like the outline for a movie than a real novel. This is no surprise when you realize I have spent most of my life reading insane amounts of plays instead of novels. Perhaps I should step away from the plays in order to improve my writing. I wonder if that would help.

In other news, working at GameStop is going quite well. I don't have very many hours right now, but I am positive that will pick up closer to the holidays. I'm not too concerned though. I'm not working there for the money. I just need a little more structure in my life. If I was working there for the money, I would probably be a bit more miffed that after working there for over a month I haven't gotten paid. There was a mix up with my name not matching my social security card. It's because I am changing my name, but they were all confused. Being at a store with an all men staff does have its low points. I hope that the paycheck situation will be cleared up soon because this is pretty ridiculos.

Not too much else going on in my life right now. Jeremy just celebrated his one month aniversary with his boyfriend Saad. I'm really happy for him. This is an official new record so it is a pretty big deal. I don't forsee any problems in their relationship and neither do they. Well, there is the fact that Saad is very close to his family and he is not out to them, but I don't think it should be an issue between him and Jeremiah. I wish them the best of luck.
