this glass house is burning down
you light the match, I’ll stick around
I’ll give you everything you want,
and wish the worst on what I was
I’ve been gone for a really long time, and it seems like there is too much to say and I don’t feel like saying it all. But still, I will attempt to do so.

I went to New York (state, not the city) and stayed with my cousins. I went shopping (H & M, oh yes), saw Spiderman (fantastic!) and, to no avail, attempted to win a humongous 8-foot stuffed fish at Six Flags. While there, I finished Helter Skelter (very confusing and creepy, but good).

Then, I was home for a day. That day I:
Saw Steve for the first time in practically a month (which was, of course, great), watched Mariel cut Caroline’s hair (enough said), ate breadsticks (can’t get enough of those), gave Steve his birthday presents, and broke into the MHS pool (all Grant and Luke, I just followed. It’s actually really cool, I want to swim there some time).

The following morning at 5:30 am, I left for my mission trip, where else, but back to New York! Oh, how ten hour drives thrill me. New York is actually really cool because they have Homies machines, like, everywhere. I met a bunch of really awesome people, picked up their southern accents, and lost them again by the end of the week. Nola and I decided to drink as much water as we possibly could all day long and see who peed the most in one day (it was me:21 times - no exaggeration). I found the perfect guy for Mariel (one catch - he lives in Alaska). On our day off we went to a mall for a few hours, out to dinner, and then bowling. I bought a homecoming dress for $17, originally $150. I love good deals. At dinner the hostess freaked out when I told her we had a party of 47. Two people were murdered and then the murderer committed suicide just four houses down the street from where one of our groups were working (An ex-boyfriend walked in on his ex-girlfriend and her new husband in bed and killed them both). I got to work at the zoo (painting and weeding) but got to take breaks a lot to help feed the animals and move them to new cages. It was really really awesome. For anyone who hasn’t been on a mission trip and has the opportunity to, I highly recommend it. Returned home on Saturday, sleeping 9 of the 10 hour drive only to discover (yay!) that my luggage is still sitting on the curb in Watertown! To make a long story short, it’s not my fault, and I’m not the only one who’s stuff was left behind. And it’s being shipped to me as we speak.

Since I’ve been back: my family got a trampoline while I was away… No complaints from me, I guess. Car hide-and-go-seek was invented (if you haven’t played, you should). I had dinner over at Steve’s for his birthday, which was a good time. I like spending time with Steve’s family. There have been some riffs within everyone’s friendships (of which yes, I am partially responsible), and I just want it to be known that I have pinpointed my areas needing improvement and are working to fix them. And also that regardless of how anyone else feels, Grant is one of my good friends even if he behaves stupidly at times. We all have our bad moments, but I trust him and care about him just as I do all of you.

Today, I am confined to my home in order to do yardwork in preparation for our summer barbeque (which I don’t understand, since all that needs to be done is lawn mowing, my dad’s job). I think I’m going to go get my hair cut tonight as well, I’ve been needing it for awhile.

In the future: I’m hoping to make a trip to the Salvation Army this week, I miss awesome 50 cent t-shirts. I also really miss spending time with Travis, and I am going to call him three times a day until we work out a time to hang out. I’ve neglected my friendship with him and I regret that. Hanson concert, ten days. It seems like I should be more excited for this than anything else, but I still can’t believe I am actually going so it’s hard to get excited. Still, I am definitely looking forward to it. It is going to be amazing.
And what a better note to leave on than Hanson?
