Age is an artificial measurement of maturity and growth. It constricts and restrains some people, and sets others free too early.
This summer I had a similiar scenario where I needed to define what age really means. I may have written about it here, but I was fairly close to a woman at work who was 26 (maybe 28, don't know, don't care). While I didn't consider age to be a barrier from talking, going out to dinner, and getting to know eachother better, it became a taboo subject when we discussed it during lunch with a small social circle. What defines the maximum age difference between two people? Should age even be tracked?
Furthermore, it brought up the internal conflict of individual age. This summer I worked at an office, doing processes and tasks that I will need to do in the future years. I am an adult for the summer. But then I go back to Bentley and I sit around and play video games with suitemates as though I were a child. Am I grown up, or am I not there yet? Does this show a youthful side to me that many people consider to be the inner child, or is it a lack of maturity and responsibility that is required of adulthood?
Age is an artificial measurement used to judge people solely on the number of years of their existance. It is used as a prejudice against people to measure maturity and ability. 20? 21? It seems like such a large difference, but who is to really say the amount an individual has grown in maturity in only one year?
I want to know more details about the cruise. We'll chill when we get back to campuses
