Where to begin....
I'll start with the places in Europe.
Barcelona - Really cool city, didn't see enough of it. Enjoyed the Rambla, and did a bus tour of the whole city. La Sagrada Familia is amazing looking from the outside, I can't wait until they finish it. Once again, I'd really like to come back here, because 24 hours doesn't give it justice.
Cassis - Kinda like Fisherman's Horizon(hahahaha Brittany gets it). The only French place I visited. It was cool. Nothing special to report other than the amazing hills and cliffs that I wish I could drive through in a fast car. I must see the Count of Monte Cristo.
Florence - Awesome stuff. Nice views all around, what a fantastic city. Fun art, everything I had hoped to see from my memories in AP Euro. Chilling outside the Church of St. Croce was pretty "Clerks"ish with my iPod. Of course I went inside to see the tombs though!
Rome - Hit up Vatican City. Puts Versailles and Buckingham Palace combined to shame. Billions of dollars of art is in that complex. It's insanity. I thought Sistene Chapel would be more special than it was. Not the painting, just the church itself. I expected Vegas I suppose. Also saw the Roman Collesium. Sweeeeeeeeeet. I wish they could let us tour the Labyrinth.
Sorrento and Capri - They were pretty. Quaint Italian towns/island. Nice tiramisu. Had beers in the cafes and let Mom spend money on stuff.
Mykonos - I enjoyed this little tiny island. I can now tell the guys at Cappy's I've been to the windmills on the poster near the exit. And that I saw a pelican. The dumbest looking bird ever. No offense to the creature, but it's retarded looking.
Istanbul - My favorite out of all of the cities. The Bosphorus is gorgeous and the culture there is awesome. And now that I know how Turkish people can afford their armani and gucci, I can rip them next time I'm on campus because I'd bet that at least 50% of their clothing are knockoffs. I must come back there.
Kusadasi - I didn't get to go to Ephesus, but next time I will. At least I could say that I set foot in Asia Minor. I also had the opportunity to laugh at their knockoffs that they presented as authentic.
Athens - Enjoyed the Parthenon and other interesting sites. The view from the Acropolis is amazing, and I got the fake sunglasses of my dreams.
Venice - Interesting place. I don't know why my parents loved it so much, but St. Marks Square was very unique. The gondola ride was a bit overrated, but Doges Palace is a must see. That was worth the boat ride over.
Atlanta - Not a scheduled trip on the cruise just a stopover because the pilots from Atlanta to Newark last night didn't show up for work. Nice Holiday Inn.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now to the social scene.
Met some interesting people from various places. Nothing overly special though. Got drunk pretty much every night, sometimes with my brother. Gambled every night but the last one, and made cash on craps, 3 card poker, and blackjack. Craps is my favorite game now.
I came into the cruise with no expectations of a social scene, and instead found some interesting networks. Mostly from LA though. Some Armenians I met were pretty friendly and my Kelikian experiences made the covnersations fliud and entertaining. Other people I met were not as interesting, but what made this cruise different was my age. Since I could buy drinks, I wasn't necessarilly excluded from things, but I didn't necessarilly feel desired for, as in a part of the group. However on my end, I didn't need them for anything, so I can't say I had any expectations thusafter. Meanwhile, it was a Brian Peppers paradise for any pedophiles out there. So the moral question I ask is, would you be interested in a person that was 17, and build a friendship for a year with him/her if you knew that when s/he reached 18 you could start a relationship? Yes it's been done, but is it moral? It poses the question, what's in an age? Anyway just food for thought.
This cruise did demonstrate my growth in the maturity department. There were times I would've freaked out and been really upset had I not grown up a little bit and see them coming a mile away. I suppose that's a good sign emotionally. However, for the first time in a while, I feel that I'm below my personal curve for maturity. I also closed out a personal contract with G-d while I was drunk. Don't ask. Let's just say that I'm on my own again.
wow. nice tangents there.
At any rate, so begins the rest of my life, again.
