It seems like this summer has seen so many big movie premieres full of kid stars:
Alice Through the Looking Glass,
Finding Dory,
The BFG, and
Adventures in Baby-Sitting. Now it's August, and the summer days are slipping away into the back-to-school season (have you seen
Skai Jackson's new
back-to-school commercial for Old Navy? I can't get over how grown-up she looks in it!), but we've still got one last big movie premiere to cap off the season: Pete's Dragon, held on August 8 at El Capitan Theatre. So many child stars, former young actors, and celeb kids were there.
Celebrity daughter Indigo Sanara Phillips, 8, with her parents
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, 9, from Modern Family
Jenna Ortega, 13, from Stuck in the Middle
Oona Laurence, 14, one of Pete's Dragon's stars, said, "I mean, I've wanted to do a Disney film for, like, as long as I can remember, and it's just really cool that I got that opportunity." Because director David Lowery saw this new movie as a reinvention, not a remake, Oona didn't see the original 1977 Pete's Dragon film (starring Helen Reddy and
Mickey Rooney) or read the book.
Auli'i Cravalho, 15, from Moana
Landry Bender, 16, from Best Friends Whenever
Beverley Mitchell, now 35, from 7th Heaven
Tiffani Thiessen, now 42, from Saved By the Bell, with daughter Harper Renn Smith, 6
