and now another network wants in on the american idol business....
It looks like a good idea. Let anyone try, let everyone vote. It could be more honest. But it's a TV show that needs it's ratings, full of extra flash and focused on what comments and what faces on what setup make more people pay attention. Just another "reality" soap opera. Sure, watch some. Entertainment is entertainment. But where does america get this sort of religeous involvment in some shows? Mesmerized... It sort of scares me when I know people who act like they'd die for a show. I have favorite shows, I'm usually into comedy whatever. I like to laugh. I can be excited over something newly enjoyable, something I think will be good. I'll tell someone about it. I can be annoyed I missed some expected new episode of a favorite. But I never find myself hypnotized. I haven't even found the "I love that character so much I just have to touch them" fanness thing. Now, I am very curious about why people become real fans. As in the original "fanatic" meaning of the word. Oh, if I just didn't know people like that, it'd just be some mysterious phenomenon seen from affar and maybe then less interesting. But then I guess I'd still see all the weird "follow that celebrity!" and "omg, did you see what she wore!!!" kind of crap that seems to have become a big reason lots of americans live or something. The drama is too insane now lol.
