--------
Since their little ‘date’ Daiki has found himself exchanging messages with the older boy, mostly with Takaki teasing the younger one. It wasn’t long when Daiki found himself staring at his calendar and sighed that his long-awaited birthday is tomorrow.
“Tomorrow huh?” whispered Daiki as he sat on his bed thinking about the changes that are going to make his life a little more complicated.
- Daiki’s POV -
I sighed and fell back on my bed I couldn’t believe it; it was coming and I had no choice but to accept it. I stared at my wall for a while suddenly I felt tense and tired, I turned my head to the side, there in front of my eyes was a man. I squinted my eyes to have a good look at him there was something about him that seemed strange. I had a good idea of what could happen to me and before I could scream my eyes closed and the only thing I heard was that sweet yet deadly “Sweet Dreams”. I felt something drip into my face I touched it then it startled me it was red and it tasted metallic I looked at it and I felt sick to my stomach; it was blood.
“Welcome, Daiki-sama... To the dream world” said a voice
I looked everywhere to find the source and finally finding it I shrink back at what I could see, I could literally feel the fear that was radiating off me. I could hear Ryutaro whispering to me.
“Don’t be afraid Daiki-sama you're stronger than him” whispered Ryutaro
“That’s easier said than done Ryutaro!” whispered Daiki
- End of POV -
Before Daiki knew it like the first time he met Ryutaro he was once again was holding the familiar sword in his hand, with his normal clothes being replaced with black silk pants with gold lining. His typical shirt replaced with a softer velvet material that clung snug to his torso. Hearing footsteps coming towards him Daiki avoided the man’s sword and struck back just as hard.
“I’m with you Daiki-sama” whispered Ryutaro “You’re not alone”
Finding comfort in Ryutaro’s word Daiki stopped hesitating and begun to fight back, clashes of swords was the only thing that was heard. It was exhausting, Daiki could literally feel himself getting tired. One second of hesitation resulted in a painful gash to his torso, hissing in pain Daiki felt liquid dripping down his chest.
“Be careful Daiki-sama, if you die here, you die in real-life” warned Ryutaro
“Thanks Ryutaro, that really made me feel much better” Daiki sarcastically told Ryutaro
Swords clashed together as Daiki managed to land a fatal blow on his opponent. By now Daiki’s limbs felt like they were being pushed to its limit. With one final thrust of his sword, the long exhausting fight had finally ended. Panting Daiki stared at the dead figure on the floor, his heart broke at the sight, and dropping to his knees he released a gasp. It wasn’t long till the figure disappeared with the smoke.
“What have I done?” Daiki asked himself before he felt a hand on his shoulder “Ryutaro”
“It had to be done, there was no other way” said Ryutaro “It’s now time for you to embrace your own destiny Daiki-sama”
Kissing Daiki on the forehead, he then reached out and touched the boy on the forehead before finding himself back in his own room. Glancing at the clock it was now midnight; the mark of his change. Getting up Daiki stood in front of his mirror where he watched his eyes turn a light shade of pink with fangs glistening under the moonlight. Ever so slowly he watched his own reflection vanish with the wind, opening the window Daiki felt different. A sweet scent travelled to his nose and felt himself being watched.
“Who are you?” whispered Daiki as he observed the night sky “Takaki?…”
All these unanswered questions were still stuck in his brain but he knows that his time as a human had ended, there was no turning back. Without being noticed by Daiki, Ryutaro stood in the shadows watching Daiki with sad eyes, knowing full well what fate had in stored for the young vampire.
“The wheel of fate had begun to spin…” whispered Ryutaro “Everything shall fall into place, be strong Daiki-sama”
----------
Pink eyes opened themselves as he felt a slight tingle on his skin, getting up he noticed his friend already up and staring at the moon.
“Did you feel that Yama-chan?” asked Keito
“I did” whispered Yamada as he stared at the glowing moon in front of him “It feels different from when the others came of age”
“If we felt that… The council will most likely have felt it” said Keito “We need to act soon, that person is also about to awaken too”
“I know Keito I know” said Yamada “But the other one of us isn’t here Keito, we need him if we’re going to succeed in this mission”
Keito’s frown was now obvious, he didn’t deny Yamada’s statement. There were only two of them, he needed the other person if they were going to complete this successfully.
“But… He won’t join” whispered Keito “He has a grudge against the clans and the council…”
“…” Yamada didn’t say anything knowing full well the reason for why the other person was not with them.
----------
Ever since his birthday Daiki’s problems kept on filling up on each other and his newly awakened capabilities is making a huge mess of his life. He’d always been very bad when it comes to waking up in the morning, but now it was even worse. He’s normal routine of waking up and going to school has become a tough hurdle to overcome, chemistry which was Daiki’s worst enemy has now been replaced by the sun. Opening his window Daiki felt cold gushes of wind hit his face, becoming a vampire the sensation of cold had disappeared along with the final traces of his humanity. Turning his head around a sweet scent caught his attention, quietly jumping from the window Daiki noticed a guy who fell asleep on a bench. Alerting the sleeping guy Daiki hypnotised him into falling back to sleep, lightly grabbing the guy’s wrist he let his fangs sink into the skin.
“This doesn’t get any easier…” whispered Daiki as he let his saliva heal the obvious fang marks.
Going back into his room Daiki laid on his bed attempting to sleep which he knew was futile, yet this time he found his eyes closing. Daiki woke up with a stinging sensation on his wrist, opening his eyes before they flashed a brink pink before he hissed in pain and flinging himself in the dark side of his room.
“Dammit, good going Daiki” muttered Daiki “You nearly got yourself fried!”
Hearing the commotion in Daiki’s room his door opened revealing his dad peeping in.
“What’s wrong?” asked Mr Arioka
“Do you have to ask?” said Daiki “I forgot to close the damn window”
With a sigh, Mr Arioka shook his head at his moody son and closed the window. But who could blame Daiki for being so moody in the morning? He’s never been a morning person, being a vampire just made it even worse.
“Say, maybe it’s time for you to transfer?” suggested Mr Arioka
“…” Daiki didn't say anything
“We’ll give you some time to think about it” said Mr Arioka as he left Daiki in his room
Daiki stood up and begun to get change and placing a black hood over his head. He’s finding it hard to conceal his vampiric features, especially whenever there’s a mirror or a garlic nearby.
“I never once thought the sun would become my enemy” whispered Daiki as he looked out of his window before going downstairs.
----------
Trudging back to his homeroom Daiki felt so lethargic and sleepy, all the poor boy wanted to do was snuggle back in his bed. Arriving at his desk Daiki plop his short self on the chair before letting his head hit the desk and closing his eyes. Within minutes he felt someone poking his cheeks, opening his eyes he was met with two brown orbs.
“Yabu-chan, Hikaru-kun” said Daiki as he mustered up every ounce of strength he had left
“You alright? You seem sleepy lately” asked Yabu
“Not getting enough sleep?” asked Hikaru
“Yeah, something like that” answered Daiki
“Alright, we'll see you at lunch” said Yabu as he ushered the other boy into his seat. Daiki watched them as he took a seat and not missing that look Hikaru gave him once again.
“Why does he look at me like he knows something?” thought Daiki as he saw Hikaru grinning at him
It wasn't long when lunch came and Daiki was sitting across Yabu and Hikaru when a mock wrestling match broke out.
“Dai-chan! Why you little!” grinned Hikaru as he pushed the smaller guy towards the open window. Feeling the sunlight on his hand Daiki let out a soft curse and whimper before retracting his hand.
“Are you okay?” said Hikaru noticing the pained look on the guy’s face
“Ah? Yeah” said Daiki as he tackled Hikaru “You made me bash into a wall you jerk!”
“Okay children” said Yabu separating the two “Enough”
They all broke into laughter and started to pack their lunches before making their way towards the gym. Daiki looked at his hand and found it to be swollen and red.
“Ittai…” whimpered Daiki as he tried to sooth the stinging pain. As they walked the hallway Daiki found his gaze locked into one spot just hiding in the shadows of the trees. Daiki watched it carefully and it wasn’t long till he noticed a shadowy figure standing just beyond that.
“Eh?” Daiki whispered as he moved closer to the window “Who?”
Thinking that he was probably imagining things again, Daiki turned his head away and ran to catch up with his two friends.
----------
“I hate this! Why does it have to be so bright in here?” whispered Daiki
“What’s wrong with you? You never complained once about anything being too bright?” said Yabu as he eyed his friend
“Well I am now!” pouted Daiki as he sat cross-legged beside Hikaru and Yabu as they watched other people playing badminton. He leaned his back against the wall and listened to Hikaru’s complaint about a cat.
“I don’t understand why you hate cats Hikaru” said Daiki as he rolled his eyes at the blonde headed guy
“Dai-chan! Cats are nasty! Have you seen their eyes?” said Hikaru as he stressed out his dislike for the feline.
“They are not nasty, they’re cut-…” Daiki didn’t finish his sentence when something caught his attention. Looking around Daiki’s eyes flashed pink; blood. The smell of blood was enough to bring out his vampiric side, bringing his head down he bit the inside of his cheek to suppress the thirst he knew would come soon.
“You okay there?” asked Yabu
“Yeah” Daiki answered as he peeked at his friend when his gaze landed on Hikaru whose face was becoming paler. For a brief second Daiki thought his friend’s eyes flashed the same dangerous pink as his does, he saw the internal conflict in Hikaru’s eyes “Hikaru?”
Hearing his name being called Hikaru snapped back into reality and saw Daiki staring at him with doubt.
“What?” asked Hikaru
“Nothing…” said Daiki
“Are you two okay?” asked Yabu as he eyed his two friends “You two look paler than a ghost!”
“Of course we are Yabu-chan!” said Hikaru as he patted his friend on the back
Blocking the two-bickering people out, Daiki can hear the old ones whispering to him “Daiki-sama, the time is nearing. You have to stop the council from rebelling and rebuilt the broken bonds between the clans”
“Shut up…” whispered Daiki
----------
Daiki waited till Yabu and Hikaru left before he hid his head in the comfort of his black hoodie and walking out of the building. He can feel the sun against the darkness of his hoodie but it was at least doing a good job preventing the sun from frying him. Not wanting to go home yet, Daiki found himself walking mindlessly in a park, seeing as there was no one around Daiki sat in the shadow of the trees as he felt himself being lulled to sleep by the wind.
“This is too hard…” whispered Daiki as he felt himself falling asleep.
----------
Takaki who was reading a book in his study felt this massive headache, getting up to the kitchen he begun to look for painkillers.
“What’s going on?” whispered Takaki “I never usually get headaches this bad…”
“Let me out… Takaki…. It’s time…” said a voice
Suddenly hearing a voice that didn’t belong to him, Takaki turned his head around expecting someone to be behind him.
“Am I losing my mind?” thought Takaki
“Takaki… It’s time… Let me out Takaki” said the same voice
As the voice reverberated in his head his headache intensified as he heard the voice coming through again, this time much stronger. Inoo who was just around the corner, noticed Takaki crouched on the floor.
“Takaki-sama!” said Inoo as he rushed to his master
Inoo noticed the way Takaki’s pupils were flashing between the red and brown, it was then that Inoo knew what was happening.
“Not yet… You can’t come out yet!” whispered Inoo as he brought out something that made Takaki fall asleep “I don’t know how much longer I can keep him contained…”
“The seal is weakening…” said a voice
“Who?!” said Inoo who turned around to find familiar faces in front of him “Yama-chan, Keito”
“Hello Kei…” greeted the two
“I’m sorry Kei… You probably won’t be able to contain him with that any longer” said Keito
“But Takaki…” whispered Inoo who was now looking at his sleeping master with sadness in his eyes
“I know…” said Keito “Yama-chan and I are going to make our move now”
“Without him?” asked Inoo
“We don’t know what his plan is” said Yamada “But he’s there… He’s always been beside the chosen one”
With that Inoo watched as Yamada and Keito disappeared before he picked up Takaki and laid him in his room.
“Please save Takaki-sama…. Daiki-sama” whispered Inoo as he closed his master’s room
