[Terezi has never been the type that listens to others when they say 'don't put strange things in your mouth'. Her ability to taste the colors of everything around her makes almost everything delicious, right down to normally inedible things like chalk, and so the mushrooms don't seem abnormal at all to her. They're purple and white and amazingly tempting and they give off an enticing scent to her. Terezi can't help it; she finds herself snacking on them casually.

She has so many, though, that when they take effect, they do so immediately. There's nothing gradual about it. She's hit with visions and emotions far, far more amplified than they have any right to be. Terezi rarely panics, but now she feels genuine terror.

Suddenly she's back in the Veil. It's the last place she wants to be.]

( action; john doe park )

[She is kneeling before the corpse of her sister, her only sister, the first and maybe one of the only people she's ever loved, and she's watching rich cerulean blood thick as syrup spurt out of an awful wound in her back. The girl's beautiful blue wings are already wilting; her face is to the side, one cheek pressed against a pool of her own blood, blue staining her long hair. Vriska's grey skin has gone so pale it's almost white. Terezi's sword- the sword that stabbed her, killed her, you killed your own sister, you killed Vriska- lies next to her, dipped in blue.

Of course, in reality, there's no corpse or sword or anything like that at all- Terezi's crouching before air. She's completely convinced of the utter reality of the hallucination, though. She's speaking to the corpse in a trembling voice.]

Fuck. I'm sorry. I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry, please don't die, stop, stop- please... Don't die. Don't die, Vriska, please. Why would you make me do this? I don't... I don't want to- why did you have to go and do that? It could have been different. I wanted it to be different, Vriska, fuck-

Please don't die.

[Her voice drops to a whimper:] I need you.

[Terezi goes silent, an for a few moments, the silence keeps, before it's abruptly broken.

Backstabber, says a horribly familiar voice in the back of her mind, shrieking, laughing. Backstabber! You're the worst of the woooooooorst. You're worse than me! I'd never have done this to you!!!!!!!! I told you so, Redglare, I told you so- one day you'd do something you'd really regret and not be able to take it back! Well? How does it feeeeeeeel?

It's Vriska's voice, but the corpse isn't moving. It's all in her head.]

Stop it! [Terezi presses her hands to her temples, squeezing her eyes shut, wishing for once to not be the one cursed with the visions and choices.] Ugh, shut up!

[Backstabber! I thought you loved me, Terezi. I thought I was your sister.]

You are. I do l... love you. [Terezi buries her face in her hands so that she can pretend she's not crying.] I didn't- don't want to kill you.

[But you did. You will. You'll shove your sword through my back. What a bad break! Didn't think you'd be up for it, but you are. All I wanted was for us to be together and happy. Look what you did, Terezi.

Look what you did.

Terezi looks, and although she is blind, it doesn't matter- she's only 'seeing' what's in her head, after all. She lowers her hands from her face and looks at Vriska's corpse, which is now sitting up, eyes all hollowed out and bright white in the caverns left behind. The corpse that's smiling at her, softly, sadly, holding her hands out to her-

Terezi blinks, and it's gone; Vriska's body is just a sad, cold, lifeless shape on the ground again.]

Vriska...?

[There's no response from the voice of the hallucination.

At this point, Terezi dissolves. The emotional trauma brought on by the hallucinations is too much for even her to handle. She weeps quietly into her hands, overcome by the guilt and awfulness of her decision. That's what she is in the end, isn't it?

Just a backstabber. One who acted like it made her a better person for it, too. A girl that'd kill her own sister.]

( phone )

I can't find a husktop or my glasses or anything- ugh- Is anyone- [Terezi swallows. Her voice is strained, a little choked.] Is anyone left alive? Vriska, she-... I'll explain later.

Karkat? Sollux...? Gamzee's still around, isn't he- [She lapses into an abrupt silence.] Please answer. Come on. Answer.

[The more time she waits out, the more convinced Terezi becomes that everyone else must be dead, too. The true killer got to them, right? So she wasn't able to avert it. She wasn't able to save this timeline. She sets down the phone, shaking a little, and realizes that she has no idea what to do now if she's the only survivor aside from Gamzee.]
