Day 3 and the duct tape is still working. Who knew that a horse could be held together by the gray super matter? Tues night Brigid came over as Yogi was limping bad, hoof abscess. My reg vet is away on CME and returns today. I've been taking extra care of Yogi and it makes me feel so much better. Brig pulled out the necrotic tissue and then drilled into a pocket to relieve the pressure, then used betadyne and ichthamol as a poultice stuffed some cotton to fill in the hole, wrapped with heavy cotton sheet, next with bandage, next vet wrap, and topped with Duct tape. He had immediate relief and resting in the stall. I'm out there like 6 times a day now checking up, watering etc. I always feel better about life when taking care of those who need it.

Speaking of caretaking, The Sopranos fifth season is really hitting me with the dementia issue that they are covering. The FEAR the first time I saw my grandmother wandering is worse than a car wreck that flips you over. When Tony felt persecuted by his uncle repeating a bit of painful old history and then came to realize that the man wasn't in charge of his actions unhinged me a bit. At least Yogi isn't acting as if he is losing his horse marbles LOL. During the caretaking of my grandmother Bill & I were using a marriage counselor to alleviate the stresses. There are so many layers to relationships and where you are in your own development as a human. I handled the changes my grandmother in her 80s had when I was 28 to 34 in our home. Typical years when nesting and child rearing take place. I was SO over my head. These days my mothers cancer and surgeries I'm not overcome by in part as it is a different and distant relationship and also I have already had my tea bag soaked in this before. My peer age friends are all approaching these issues and planning for caring for parents and even siblings. I hope to be of help to my friends. Don't suppose that they will all believe me that getting a donkey is a good step to curing stress.
