So I mentioned in a previous post about our new houseguest kitty. Being an obvious outdoor cat, we've been somewhat coerced into letting her out to roam the neighborhood occassionally. She gets really restless and loud when she's cooped up for more than 2 days. So we let her out on Saturday morning to go roam around and enjoy the nice warm weather.
We went out to visit some friends that afternoon and evening, and when we got home it was already colder and drizzling rain. Normally she's waiting for us to come home; hiding out in some bushes or something near our particular apartment building. This time, not so much. We called out for her, but she's not much of the "come running when you call" kinda cat. So we went to bed figuring she'll be fine. After all, she was fine before she found us.
Looked for her yesterday occassionally, evan so far as walking the apartment complex and calling out to her. Still nothing. As it got later, windier and MUCH colder, we called out and did another search through the complex. The neighborhood wild cats down by the dumpster weren't giving up any info on her. Damn gangster cats never wanna give up any info. So we had to go to bed last night knowing she was outside in 18 degree weather.
I know she's an outdoor cat, and that she'll MOST LIKELY be okay, especially once it warms up a little. Still makes me feel like a bad "Cat Dad" for letting her out and then not being able to find her again.
I'm also trying to chalk it up to a "if it's meant to be, she knows where we are" kind of thing. Just don't wanna think she froze to death last night because I should have just kept her indoors.
Maybe she heard us talking about taking her to the vet to get her fixed (or at least check that she's been fixed already... we're still not sure she wasn't someone else's housecat before escaping to the outdoors). Or maybe she found another family to take care of her.
Who knows.
Just makes me feel kinda guilty, ya know?
