If I'm going to write here for a bit, I may as well give an update on the cast of characters I.E., yours truly.
I turned 31 on March 1st. This is what I look like these days:
Many things are about me are the same since I fucked off from LJ in 2013. I still live in my condo, I'm still gratefully single, I'm still broke, and I still have two kitties. Even my phone number is the same. I've still got an older brother, an obsession with Harry Potter, no fashion sense, and off the rails OCD/ADHD. It's great, by which I mean, it could stand to change now and then.
I can't find any photos of me from pre-2014, but here's a run-down of me through the years to bring my dumb face to today. Disregard the (obvious) fluctuation of mass, not here to discussss iiiiit (maybe another entry, maybe never, idk).
Anyway, if anybody out there is reading this and wishes to continue on with this nonsense, the EPIC JOURNEY continues after the cut.

• I now drive a car. In 2013, the place I was working switched buildings and parked its new headquarters over a kilometre away from any bus stop. I wasn't keen on walking through an open field when it was -30, or getting up two hours early to catch the three buses to take me there, so I gritted my teeth and got on with it. When I was 15/16, my parents weren't super invested in teaching me to drive, which seemed to be the expectation at the time. Feeling badly about this, my parents paid for my driving lessons, and I (mercy) passed on the first try! My first car was a 1997 Ford Shitbox Escort Sport, and I drove it into the ground. Ongoing maintenance kept it going nicely until the transmission gave up in April 2018 and I was forced to retire it at 380560 kilometres. Total shame. The 2004 Focus I've replaced it with has been an absolute fucking lemon from the start, and I fantasise about the day I get to replace it. Holy shit do I hate this car. Another story, another day ... Which now has me thinking of how much I want to catch up and make posts in here about this noise.
My licence plate is WEASLEY, and my NO FEAR plate looked cooler on the Escort.
• I wear glasses regularly. Am I blind? No. Did my vision drop below the 20/20 I'm accustomed to? Yes. Not here for it. There are two pairs I currently switch back and forth on, which have become the number 1 thing people compliment me on despite having picked them primarily for their spectacularly low price point. I guess nobody wants granny glasses and lucite dreams?
The big ones allow me to see up and down without sacrificing visibility whereas it turns out the yellow ones respond to black light lol
• I perm my hair, and have done so since summer 2018. It's fucking great. I have a lot of anxiety about my hair, namely how heavy it is and how 'trapped' it makes me feel. Perming it keeps it much lighter and off my scalp, and is much easier than the 3+ hours it takes me to use a manual crimper for similar feelings of weightlessness. It's an expensive little trip to the salon, but so far have managed to maintain it. The one I got this week was courtesy of everyone who threw change in the shoe I passed around for my birthday.
• I have a career that I love. I was pretty down and out at the end of 2014. I'd left an insanely toxic job and was doing food delivery to make ends meet, but wow did it suck. A girl I met on POF suggested I come to a group interview at The Body Shop for a seasonal position. Like most people, I had completely sworn off retail, but I wasn't in a position to make a choice. The three locations in the city seemed to dig my jive, but I ultimately opted to join the team at the shop at The Centre, which is pretty much across the street from where I live. In March 2015 I took over as shop manager, and have since put my name out there and am actually obsessed with what I do. I'm not sure I could stand to work retail elsewhere - It's the company I have a passion for, and I'm so lucky to get to go to work at a place I love so much. More fodder for another entry!
My shop was super out of date so we moved across the hall in 2018. Shiny and new!
• I've been to the Maritimes! A BFD considering I've still never left this stupid continent and have barely got my toes wet in America. Previously, the furthest east I'd ever been was Montreal on a band trip in 2006. I've been BFF's with my buddy Craig for several years now, and I did a trip to Montreal --> Halifax --> Fredericton to visit his family farm in NB (2016). I ended up out there again in 2018 when he got married, but this time did everything solo and drove my ass from Fredericton to Charlottetown to Halifax, where we then met up again and hit up the farm once more. BA DUM.
WOW BRITT IMAGINE IF YOU'D MADE AN EFFORT TO BLOG ABOUT THIS SHIT
• I have a nephew! Super wasn't expecting my brother to have a kid, but after two shitty marriages, third time's the charm and he met an incredibly lady and they oops!babied like immediately and in any case his parents make a lovely couple! He's just turned 6 months old and is named after Jack Layton (RIP).
Wearing that same nasty coat I've had since I was sixteen.
• I'm getting another niece/nephew in approx 10 days By which I mean I picked up a 23andMe test and have since matched with like 6 half-siblings and the one whom I've met and I get on insanely well and he's gonna be a dad pretty quick and decided it's cool for me to be its auntie YES. ... Did I ever mention here that I learned I'm from an anonymous sperm donor? That my brother had a different donor? IDK, but that story is WILD.
JFC I've pulled an all-nighter making this dumb post and maybe there's more to add and maybe there isn't but goodnight I think? It's 7:35 AM. BYE.
