Dinkles and Dongles

. . . say the bells of St. . . . . Bongles?

So I've been wildly running around trying to prepare for my upcoming two week trip to Sicamous/Banff/Calgary, which will be 90% full of seeing as many relatives as I can, which will be nice, but I hope I can throttle enough relaxation/quiet time out of the other 10%.

In the meantime, I have a proposal for all family & friends to ponder. I was talking to some friends awhile ago, and they were telling me how they challenged each other to make a list of their top 20 favourite songs. Like, really put some thought into it and come up with a seminal, desert island top 20 list. I'm endeavouring to do it myself, and it's not an easy task. I've got the top 6 - 7 figured out, and then I have about 40 songs underneath that have to be sorted and painstakingly whittled down.

And then I got to thinking about other people I know and how curious I am as to what their top 20 songs would be. And then I dreamed up this proposal: to actually get people to send me their top 20 favourite songs. It could be just a list, but what I'd really like is to get people's top 20 songs on a CD (or a cassette, or a flash drive) so I could listen to them. I want to collect my family & friends' top 20 mixes. I just think it would be a cool thing to have.

Participation is not mandatory, but I'd like to get at least 10 different mixes. And if you don't have the time or the resources to make a mix, feel free to post your Top 20 list below.

What consitutes a "favourite song"? I know you can break it up into a lot of disparate categories (favourite song to dance to, favourite song to listen to in the car, etc., etc.), but for the purpose of this list, I'm defining "favourite song" as a song that you have loved for a long time and that you could listen to 100,000 times and not get sick of it. A "desert island" song, if you will.

So . . . . ready, set, PONDER!
