Switzerland's a funny place sometimes.

Walking home in the evening, I find that some fuckwit has put up a poster deriding evolution and promoting their own whackjobbery in its place. (Islamic in tone-a refreshing change from the monotonous fare provided by some who think they're Christians.) Am I just biased, or is there something about the crowded and disjointed design of that poster and Mr Yahya's website which is characteristic of insanity?

Curiously, the Web site of the Kongresshaus Zürich doesn't list the event Mr Yahya is advertising. I wonder whether he's lying or they're just embarrassed to admit they'll take money from someone like that.

Then I'm going to work in the Swiss spring morning, and a neighbour is out in a small park nearby, practicing their Alphorn. The instrument produces a surprisingly sweet note that carries for long distances across the valley as I walk up to the train station between the houses and the fields. And for a moment, despite my rather suburban surroundings, I have a feeling that I'm walking through an older and more brightly-coloured time.
