The footprints on your ceiling are almost gone

Byline courtesy of Little Feat.  And it's true.  Things are looking much brighter now and the change is entirely in my head rather than in the situation, which continues much the same.  But that's alright.

So in the spirit of looking at things the right way up, here's a list of some stuff I did in the latter part of 2008.  Specifically, the books I read.

I actually started a booksblog (yes, I jumped ship to do it *g*) though it  fell behind pretty soon once I started reviewing for SF Crowsnest.   I'm going to revive it, though and do proper links to the Crowsnest reviews, too.

Actually, I can't remember whether I mentioned starting to do reviews for SF Crowsnest.  I seem to forget to tell people about things rather a lot.   If I haven't mentioned it, sorry for the oversight.  If I have, sorry for the repetition.

So, to the list - given as they occur to me, with links where appropriate:

The Skewed Throne - Joshua Palmatier
The Cracked Throne - Joshua Palmatier
Dead Dave (in draft) - RJ Barker
Firethorn - Sarah Micklem
Ships From The West - Paul Kearney
Grendel - John Gardner
Accelerando - Charles Stross
Blood & Iron - Elizabeth Bear (again!  Second time round for this one)
Whiskey & Water - Elizabeth Bear (ditto)
The Chains That You Refuse - Elizabeth Bear
A Companion To Wolves -  Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear  (and I've just noticed that the title on the site is wrong.  I'd better tell the Ed...)
Darkland - Liz Williams
Banner Of Souls - Liz Williams
Winterstrike - Liz Williams
The King's Dragon - Kate Elliott
Natural History - Justina Robson
Keeping It Real - Justina Robson
From The Notebooks Of Dr Brain - Minister Faust
Cronan The Librarian - Steve Westcott (review still to be written)
Emperor: The Gods Of War - Conn Iggulden
Ilium - Dan Simmons
The Red Country - Sylvia Kelso
Count Zero - William Gibson
Dissolution - C.J. Sansom
A Song For Arbonne - Guy Gavriel Kay

Not a huge list, but as I only really made a start again in August, not too bad.  And later I shall make a list of the goodies I still have to read.  I bought books on holiday and brought them home unread!  It's unheard of.....

It also occurs to me that I wrote a draft of another novel last year.  Or was it two?   Anyway, that makes three hideously rough drafts that I have knocking around now.  Of course, only two of the three are related and cover the beginning and end of the story.

So it looks like the first three months of this year will be spent writing the middle.  Plus at least two more short stories - one from scratch.

Then the rest of the year seems likely to be taken up doing rewrites.  Sounds like a good plan, anyway.

*Edited to add books, when I've remembered*

new year, stuff done and nettles grasped, do or do not, books and book stuff
