Well, it's that time of year when we look back and think, 'Tomorrow will be a New Year.'
I'm finding the idea a bit strange, to be honest. I think the new year started early for me, while we were away on holiday. Maybe it was a sea change. (Ouch. Alright, I know. That will do.) I've come back feeling - different. Better. More relaxed. More focused.
I don't know whether this will last, but I feel that it will and that's what counts. Life has problems, but it has good things too. I've finally remembered that.
At the risk of sounding totally bonkers, that holiday was magical. Ordinary magical, if there is such a thing. Believably magical. Unbelievably magical, from the moment that we arrived and saw gannets plummeting into the ocean (startling, brilliant white against grey skies) to the day before we left, when we saw - for the first time ever in umpteen years of going down there - a pod of ten dolphins hunting across the bay. Not forgetting the buzzard that turned back from its hunt to circle over our heads and show its creamy underside, only moments before we saw what at first seemed to be a young buzzard but on closer inspection (from about twelve feet away!) to be a young peregrine falcon....
Magic. Absolute, pure magic.
On the first day there were rainbows!
And it didn't stop. When we got back, we found more ordinary magic. Bless whoever has done this again this year - and everyone who walks through the wood and respects it. A lot of people walk here and there's no sign of anyone doing anything other than stopping and smiling. And maybe taking photos :)
Last but not least, among many many other good happenings towards the end of this year, we've received an invitation to a very special wedding. Very lovely people, who know exactly who they are ;-)
At last I get to say those special words: 'I really should get a new set of leathers, darling. It's for a wedding, after all....'
On which surreal and slightly bonkers note, may I wish each and every one of you much happiness for the coming year.
Love and hugs to you, from me :)
