I’m comfortable now, leaning my head against his chest, and relaxing a bit when he pulls his hand carefully through my hair.
I can’t make sense of what he’s saying. The warm sound of his voice, and the way he is holding me is somehow all I need right now. Somehow, it doesn’t matter that I’m still too upset, too devastated to actually listen to the words.
He’s patient and understanding. Right now, I appreciate that more than he’ll ever know. In one way, I want to turn and kiss him, just quickly, tenderly. But I don’t dare.
