What should I say about how I'm feeling? I'm not ecstatic, that's for sure; not when I remember my last match so vividly. A draw in Milan - meaningless just one week later. I'm ambitious enough to feel at least partially responsible for how things turned out.
It's been almost five months since then, and I'm still trudging through rehab, don't even get light ball training.
Sure, it could be better, but it could just as well be worse. So I tell people to have faith in me, to be patient with me when my own patience is wearing thin.

Fifteen years it's been; fifteen years of spotlight, flashes, fans and interviews. Just because I thought it would be a good idea to kick leather for a living. It was, though, as a whole. True, the downs were always deeper than the ups were high; and I've had about as many injuries as bookings (well, almost); and looking back, I can't even believe I made it this far, can't believe that I, the eternal talent, have swum in that shark basin for so long and yet remained in one piece.
But I have.
Now I'm leaving; and I'm leaving gladly.
Note: Parts of this were shamelessly pilfered from Scholli's last video interview. I hope he doesn't mind.

Title: Three Minutes

Prompt: Time
Character: Daniel van Buyten
Note: Set during Bayern München's first leg against AC Milan in last season's Champions League.

You could say I'm stubborn and proud for not giving up, but that's the way I am, even when we're 1-2 behind with only three minutes to go.
In the corner of my eye I see the coach yell from the sideline. I bite my lip and run forward. I don't look left, don't look right. And then, the ball's right in front of my feet, and I strike out and slam it into the net for the second time that evening.
I might not have saved the world, but I got a good idea of how it must feel.
