Mmmm I love the weekend.
I had the most lovely night yesterday. I went to Becca's, and we huddled under the covers and talked for a while until Diana came over. Then the three of us bundled up for a walk in the cool drizzling outdoors. We went for a pretty significant walk, and then drove to pick up Chaela. Originally we were going to go to the North End for dinner, but it was so gross and dark out that we thought we'd just do greasy Chinese food in West Newton Center. But then none of us really wanted greasy Chinese food or to go outside at all, so we stayed indoors and ordered Bertucci's delivery, which turned out to be just right. It was so much fun just talking and hanging out with my bobsquad (minus Lydia). The four of us have to get together more often, especially now that half of us can drive. They're practically like cousins to me. It's funny because at school, Chaela and I don't talk/hang out much, but when we were out of that school context with our camp buddies, we couldn't stop chatting about school and camp and live and everything, and I was fully reminded of why I adore her so, so much. We talked about school so much that we had to keep shushing ourselves, since obviously it was kind of exclusive towards Becca and Diana. It's funny that the two of us that happen to go to school every day had to catch up the most, especially about things like school! It was so nice. I love them so much. Gah! Lydia's coming up to MA next weekend, but that's the big crazy wedding of cousin Katie weekend, so I won't get to see her. At least I saw her over the summer. Sadly I only really get one annual dose of Lydia, but I am grateful to at least have that.
I slept in SO much later than usual this morning! It was GLORIOUS! And it's been a leizurely day, eating macaroni and cheese and watching Harriet the Spy and looking up new phones to buy. I'm 99% sure I'm getting
this one. Gotta love purple.
Now I must go -- my parents and sister and I are going into Cambridge for Rodney's-Mary Chung's-Toscanini's-ing. The perfect combination.
Update: Just got back from Cambridge, and had the most wonderful time. We walked around Harvard Square for a bit, and got iced coffee/tea and listened to these two really talkented guys perform for a bit. Also there's this place called Bob Slate Stationer or something like that which was SUCH a drool-enducing art supply + stationary store. My favorite part was the enormous collection of absolutely gorgeous notebooks of all shapes and sizes. When we'd had enough of Harvard Square we went over to Porter's Square, where we looked for a wedding gift for my cousin (unsuccessfully) and went to Rodney's old used bookstore, which is amazing. I found a possible end of the year gift for Ted, although I'm afraid he won't like it. It's this little book of The Merchant of Venice published in like 1880, and it has some little illustrations and an illustrated section about Shakespeare's life. Last time I was at Rodney's, I found this really cool, even older version of The Tempest that had huuuge extensive interpretations of every single line, written in Olde English, and I'm annoyed that I didn't buy it then and there to give to Tom at the end of the year. Alas. So I bought The Merchant of Venice, and this really perfect birthday gift for Diana and I'm not sure if she knows about this blog or not so I'm not going to talk about it just in case, and for $2.50 I got a Monty Python DVD. Woo! I felt so shopping-successful: one journal (I got it for capstone), two books, one DVD. I made out pretty well!
Then of course we did Mary Chung's for dinner, which was half delicious and half surprisingly over-salted, which it never has been before. Usually it's just heavenly. Then we did ice cream at Toscanini's, which was GREAT. I got a tasty malted vanilla ice cream.
When we got home I peed like a muthabitch because I'd drunk so much water with the salty food, and then had a little phone chat with Emma and watched Ocean's 13. It's been a great day.
OH! And did I mention my dad's getting a bird?? NEW PET!!! EEEE! We're getting a lovebird -- I forget the specific breed name, but it's bright yellow with a pink face and blue tail feathers. Supah cute! We've been trying to think up names all day. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! I can't wait to have a little bird again!! It's coming home next week, and it's a baby! Asklhdgklasjhdgasdfnhak! Chloe's going to be totally jealous.
