honestly i think if they had paired this new dude Marcus or Bubba (LaMarcus Tinker) with Quinn instead of the obivious Mercedes, it would have been more interesting. using all the characteristics they've listed for the character like he's supportive, accepting and trying to get her to believe in herself etc, then yes he would be a GREAT match for Quinn, who is also looking for a guy who would be very different from her previous attempts. and that would have shaken things up a bit....
i think from giving Mercedes a potential mate with both Sam and Anthony Rashad ( the guy kurt tried to hook her up with, who was HOT) to this guy, Marcus or Bubba or whatever, is just a classless easy out without trying. if they genuinely wanted to give someone the opposite of sam looks wise, all they had to do was get a hot black guy.
you can't possibly go from a show where most of the guys are/were studly, to you know this guy, without complaints. he could be the best singer ever and sweetnatured as all get out but he's not at all a looker. #truefacts.
that aside Glee altho I watch(ed) it, was never a show about continuity or you know depth unless its about Kurt. not even Quinn has any real depth. most of them are just what they're characters are stereotyped as. if you want to be honest. ie Quinn's a pretty ambitious blonde with a secret?? whats the secret? she had a baby out of wedlock and then never deals with that ever again. or Rachel, budding songstress with control issues, she's just that. they attempted to give her depth in season 1 and forgot about it, i'm talking about her biological mom seeking her out and then dumping her and she just moved on (not to mention the whole Jesse being in on that plan, didn't even deal with that, they only resolved the egg on the face issue).
anyways, Glee fucked itself over because everyone loved the show during the first season because it was about fun, high school, and singing with a gang of misfits that we all cared about just enough. and then they forgot themselves and started thinking this show was serious. promoting itself as a show about breaking stereotypes and changing the way people think of blah blah blah blah but not being able to follow through, make RIB look like giant pretentious douchebags. instead they just sort of did a wash, rinse, repeat. even the characters couldn't keep up with the ideals they set up in the first season, because the show started to believe it was better than it was.
what I learned however is that 2 gay guys who like musicals and singing will fall madly in love, as well 2 asians who like to dance and are asian. so its not a huge leap that 2 larger sized chocolate people will find each other and instantly be perfect for one another. and the same kids will sing lead and everyone else will sway and screech along in the back. this show ...ugh.
thats why RIB should just shut up and enjoy the ride. stop pretending this show is going to change the world, it frigging isn't. and I sort of hate them for making me believe they were actually willing to give something exciting a chance. /end rant
spoilers if anyone gave a shit,
i hate glee so much sometimes
