Stepping off the Precipice: Matthew Danvers
Before the Tarot, Matthew was just out of college with an art degree. He wanted to be a comic artist, which his parents weren't thrilled with. He had a lot of ideas, but never got any of them down on paper. Meantime, he was working in a secondhand bookstore.
After the Tarot, Matthew found himself encountering the supernatural, particularly witches. He hears the inquiries made to the Tarot from everyone. He checked himself into a hospital and it was the sorcerer who invoked the Tarot in the first place who checked him out and told him what was happening.
Matthew now works part-time as a police sketch artist, still working at the bookstore for the other half the time. He still wants to be a comics artist, but he feels obliged to figure out what happened to the rest of the deck first.
