Yay, life

I had a lovely birthday/holiday weekend.

Friday evening Josh took me to the mall to pick up a few maternity clothes for a birthday-present (which I desperately need - pretty much nothing I own fits anymore), then we got dinner and had a lovely evening together.

Saturday I opened presents in the morning with Josh, which was great fun, and soon Rachel arrived to visit.  Yay! We went to the butterfly conservatory that's 20 mins away (I had been reminded of this place by comments on other peoples' LJs last week). It was pretty wonderful.  4,000 butterflies flitting and fluttering around in a beautiful enclosed garden is just magical. And there were lizards and turtles - I got to pet a blue-tongued lizard named Houdini.  He was pretty cute. After the conservatory, we relaxed through the hottest part of the day, then went out for dinner at my new favorite restaurant in Northampton, which was yummy yummy. It was so nice to have a chance to chat and catch up with Rachel, and the time went by much too quickly.

On Sunday, after Rachel left, I just took it easy for awhile. It was hot, so I spent most of the day relaxing and trying to stay cool. That evening, Josh and I met up with a couple local friends, Jim and Shannon, and went to dinner and later introduced them to the boardgame Arabian Nights. It was great fun, and though it was not a typical 4th of July celebration, I have no regrets.

Yesterday Josh and I went shopping for the nursery. We got so much stuff! I'm terribly excited, even if things are still sitting around in boxes waiting to be assembled (it's waaaay too hot to be putting furniture together). I figure - hey, we have time.  I can put together something every week, and still have the nursery more or less set up by August.

And today was my 4th month appointment. Everything's going so well! I LOVE hearing baby's heartbeat. It's the most wonderful sound in the world. And in just 4 weeks, we're having our anatomy ultrasound - and we find out the gender.  I can't wait!!!

and baby makes three, quintessence
