Things are Good

Just an update - the blood clot seems to be under control.  It's responding well to meds, so I think I'm out of immediate danger, as long as I'm diligent about taking medication and continuing to elevate & apply heat to the leg.  So that's good!

Otherwise, it's been a nice couple of weeks.  I saw some great people last week/weekend - Suko and Peter visited from California, and Josh and I got together with them and went up to Portland to visit Sarah.  We had a great time! A few days earlier we went to down to Providence to Al Forno, and saw a bunch of fantastic people there, as well. It was a lot of fun, and I finally got to try the legendary Al Forno, which I'd been hearing about for 15 years, but never been to.  It was good, but I have to admit that it didn't stand up to 15 years of hype.  But maybe that's just because I've been totally spoiled, and I've been to Alinea in Chicago, which was (and may very well always be) the best culinary experience of my life.

I never said anything about the France trip.  Well, it was pretty wonderful. We spent a week in Paris, then split a week between Normandy and sw France, in the Dordogne river valley. I really liked Paris, but I LOVED Sarlat, the small medieval town we went to in the Dordogne.  The Dordogne is this gorgeous, pristine landscape, and Sarlat is a real working medieval town - people live and work in buildings that were built in the 12th century and on.  It's amazing. It's my favorite place in the world.  I told Josh I want to retire there.  He says that I should reserve judgment until I see his favorite place in Sicily, and then decide where we want to retire.  Sure - if it means a trip to Sicily to scope it out!  ;)

We're seeing some lovely peeps this weekend, and I'm totally looking forward to some board games and character gen for the game Josh'll be running over the summer.  And then next week it's Josh's birthday...and the week after it's my birthday...does anyone else feel like the summer is already starting to fly by?
