Shiro Wot

Shiro wot was always one of my favorite things on the vegetarian platter at the local Ethiopian restaurant and, it turns out, very easy to make if you have a place that sells shiro powder, after that it's not much more difficult than oatmeal. mmm, i love ethiopian food. toronto's got a fully vegetarian ethiopian restaurant that i've been meaning to try.

That's my favorite ethiopian food! Around here it doesn't really ever come with the veggie combo but you can get a side of shiro in addition. YUM!

west philly is filled with african grocery stores. the international food store has it, and the super 7, and those shops along baltimore all have it. Marrakech market has it too.

Can I ask where you got your recipe? There are precious few recipes for Ethiopian food online, and I've been casting around for a good cookbook.

I got mine from a neighbor. it was pretty rudimentary, saute chopped onion & tomato, add water & powder, simmer for 30 minutes.

injera is easy to get around here, easier than sitting a bowl of flour & water on top of the fridge for a couple of days :-)
