I'm not much of a baker, really. Heck, I even manage to ruin brownies from a mix pack (yeah, I don't know)
But still, a couple of weeks ago, I decide I should take a shot at making a cake anyway, since I was craving one so badly.
Being inspired by a cake my aunt has used to bake to birthdays lately, I wanted to make a strawberry cake.
So I googled up a recipe for the base cake, and started baking.
And this is the result:
Strawberries, custard, and a layer of melted light chocolate!
Not entirely like I pictured it, or I'm used to seeing it.
The cake type wasn't right (sugar bread, I think it's in English). One of the recipes called for the same kind used in pies and stuff. Not sure what it's called. But I figured I'd use something else, because my aunt only used the pie-dough the first few times, the last times she has used more of a cake-type.
It also got chewy and a bit hard after a day or two.
Any tips on other kinds to use?
And I didn't have a round form either, and the flower form was the only on I found besides a bread form.
Other berries can be used as well in this. I actually wanted raspberries, but the stores didn't have any.
