I give you: chocolate strawberries!
They were made with great love and excitement in lieu of a cake for my birthday. The plan is to stick a small white candle in each strawberry. This was my first attempt to both melt chocolate and use my double boiler, and I think it went rather well. There was quite a bit of chocolate left over after I dipped all the berries, so I dipped orange segments as well.

these instructions for tempering chocolate. Also, 1 lb. of chocolate for 1 lb. of strawberries was far too much. I suggest 1/2 lb. of chocolate for 1 lb. of strawberries.
