delicious treats from New York City

I recently went to New York and enjoyed several delightful treats!

My god, pumpkin cupcakes! I must get down there this weekend.

Also, I'm gonna be a total heretic here and say I'm not a huge fan of Katz's. Everything is really expensive and soooo salty.

yeah, the pumpkin cupcake is totally worth it! the pistachio one disappointed me a little, but i love that place enough to excuse it :)

i can understand what you mean about katz's. but i love their pastrami--love love love it. i don't like their pickles at all, though. the salt issue there hasn't bothered me--i mean, that's what a deli is, right? but i'm very sensitive to salt and haven't had a problem there. we all react differently.

I actually was up in NYC and went to Magnolia Bakery last weekend.
I was really disappointed though! :(
I couldnt even eat half of my cupcake- it was so gross. The frosting was grainy, bland and gross and the actual cake was dry.
And usually I can def. eat an entire dessert!

that sucks! i loved it--the ones i got were outstanding. you must have hit them on a bad day :(

was it the vanilla one? because i definitely agree with the weird dry cake thing -- it's gross. the chocolate one is way better.

Vanilla with chocolate frosting - too cocoa-y not chocolate-y enough!

Me too!! I'm poor right now, though. My friend lives in the Lower East Side. I visited 2 yrs ago and absolutely loved it Even though I went in early summer and it was hot as hell, and since I'm from San Diego I almost died of heat. My friend has no a/c on top of that. I still LOVED it, but now I want to go when it's cooler, haha.

yes, last week was also a scorcher--it's definitely best to go when it's nice and cool :)
