hi! I'm new to the community, etc, etc.
the other day I went to a Vietnamese farmers' market in New Orleans East and managed to get a bag full of what I think is ume (a type of Asian plum?). I thought they were something else, but I didn't know what that something else is called in English (my parents are Indian so I only know the Hindi names for some veggies and fruits and spices and things), nor did the woman I was buying them from seem to speak English, so I just guessed. when I smelled them when I got home I realized I was waaaaaaayyyy off.
but now I have all these little plums and don't know what I can do with them. I can't eat them all, even if I liked them.
so, recipes? I was thinking along the lines of tarts or chutney, but I don't want to try and fail and waste them all. I'd like something tried and true with porn-y results.
