This is going to sound like kind of an odd question, but I need some ideas of side dishes that involve vegetables and fruit. To put it bluntly, my husband and I eat like crud. Admittedly, it's good-tasting crud, but it's not exactly healthy. Given I've been having some rather worrying health issues lately, I'm trying to take care of this particular aspect of our lives, and I'm realizing that I haven't the froggiest idea what I'm doing. I grew up with corn from a bag dumped into a bowl and put in the microwave - occasionally green beans or peas from a bag. My husband's in about the same boat. It's kind of a wonder that we grew up without major vitamin deficiencies, really.
So, help! Give me your favorite veggie side dish. Tell me your favorite way to eat fruit. Help me get some of this good stuff into my diet (and my husband's, too - 'cause if I'm going down this road, he's going with me, dang it!).
