Pornistas, please share your favourite homemade soup recipes!

I'm craving soup but I can't eat the store bought canned stuff because I'm no longer allowed salt. I would love to make something delicious tonight but I've never made soup before and have no idea where to begin.

Thanks!

Twelve Clove Garlic Chicken Soup revelininsanity June 7 2007, 21:25:08 UTC
Take some chicken stock(you can make it yourself, we just boil some chicken bones, a carrot and a piece of celery, along with an onion, either for a day, or about four hours, then straining it and putting the meat back in.) and put it to simmer.

Add twelve cloves of garlic

About a tablespoon of grated ginger(more if you have a sister with a queezy stomach)

A carrot, finely chopped

Maybe some potatoes, also finely chopped, if you feel like it.

A handful or so of chopped celery

A coarsely chopped onion. It should be in chunks.

Boil, or simmer it together until the veggies are cooked and then either add a starch(noodles, rice, etc) or not. Enjoy!

I like to make a big pot of french onion soup and eat it for days, but I fear it is pretty high in salt, so not what you're looking for.

hopefully someone has a bad ass Broccoli Cheddar recipe to share? :)

My all time FAVORITE chicken and wild rice soup.

A couple of changes I make:

I use 6 cups of chicken broth and no water (Sometimes I'll use 2 boxes of rice because I like my soup extra rice-y, and then I suggesting using at least 8-9 cups of broth)

I also add celery, carrots, and onion

It's really, really good and freezes extremely well.

Potato leek soup! evil_mom June 7 2007, 21:51:47 UTC
2-3 leeks
5-6 medium sized potatoes
1/2 cup milk
Chicken broth
Salt & pepper to taste

Peel & cube the potatoes. Boil until very, very tender (almost mushy).

While the potatoes are boiling, coarsely chop the leeks & sauté in lots of butter until soft(ish).

Put the potatoes & leeks in food processor. Process with milk & chicken broth to desired consistency (I like mine "rough": with chunks). Season to taste with salt and pepper.

If you don't have a food processor, a blender or immersion blender works too.

Will it taste okay without salt? That's the big problem for me.

Yeah, it'll taste okay. Sorry about that, I reposted the recipe, down below. I couldn't even understand part of what I wrote.
