There is this cake I got from an asian bakery and it's really good. It's light and sweet but not overly sweet. They called it paper cake. It's very light weight. I googled it looked and looked could not find a thing

Eeee, thank you. Now I have names for them all. Although I probably can't pronounce jian dou properly and will revert to calling it 'gummy rice thing with sesame seeds'.
My other favourite is the 'wife cake'. I've never heard that name before. They just call it a wintermelon crisp here. ^^ Love it.
Heh, it's actually a little wrong. it should be jin dou, and it's said, "gin d'oh". kinda like that. emphasis on the gin.
There are also a buncha variations on it. there's the 'lao bo bing' (pronunciation: lah-ow b-aw bing, like chandler bing) which translates literally to 'old wife biscuit'. i think that's the one you're referring to? a flaky little thing with lotus seed paste inside? It's one of my favorites.
Maybe a crepe cake? I've seen people make cakes by making a batch of crepes, layering them with a filling (usually some sort of ganache but if you want something light you could probably use something like a whipped cream) and frosting it like a regular cake. If you're getting it from an asian bakery it probably uses something different than crepes, but the effect would probably be similar.
