2nd ques - fresh herbs vs. dried - what ratio?

Hi,

sorry to bother you guys again, but with this same ratio, it call for 3tbls of fresh dill.

I only have dried on hand and don't feel like going out to buy fresh...

is there some kind of science or way to know how to substitue dried herbs for fresh?

does it depend on the herb?

thanks for your advice - i don't want to make it overly dill-y, but i also don't want to make it too bland,and have never made this recipe before so I don't know how to play around with it.

Do you put in less dried for fresh, or more fresh herbs in a recipe that calls for dried (if you are switching the other way).

Does anyone know of a website that has some kind of counter, or if there just a general rule of thumb when substituting dried herbs for fresh?
