I need a Vanilla Expert!
So my friend came back from India and my present was a bundle of dark, unremarkable looking black twigs. Lo and behold, they are "vanilla sticks".
Attempts at googling have been fruitless. I can't seem to find any info on the sticks, really. Are they the same thing as pods.. will I find beans inside? Can I make vanilla extract from them? Can I do anything with them? (aside from a recipe for vanilla sugar and a creme brulee, I can't even find info on them on vanilla websites!)
I was hoping to make a cheesecake based around these vanilla sticks, and no luck with googling that either. If anyone knows about these and has any idea how I can put them to use, and also any idea at how I might adapt them into a cheesecake, would be much appreciated.
