two days ago was Robert Burns Day, one of the few holidays that I try to make it a point to celebrate (it involves Scotch and haggis! how can it be bad?).
unfortunately, this year, I forgot to order my haggis in time, so it didn't arrive til today.
No, it's not 100% authentic haggis, but that's exceedingly difficult (or impossible) to find in the States, short of making your own (one day I will, I'm sure), and importing fresh meat products from other countries is against the law. So I'll make do with this. This year, I ordered from
Lamb Etc., and was not disappointed in the least. I've had their haggis in the past, and it's pretty damned good stuff (and I think fairly acceptable for an American palate, if folks would get over their hang-ups about the dish). It's also one hell of a lot better than the stuff I had
last year.
to make the cost of shipping worthwhile, I ordered a few packages of their haggis links, which are now sitting in my freezer (apart from the one I just ate, and the ones in the fridge which will be cooked for dinner).
