New and already asking questions!
Hi everybody! I only recently found this wonderful comm through the spotlight feature on the main page. And it happened to be right when I came across a giant gorge in my story's path in the form of a food problem!
Maybe I should give a small intro first, before I beg for help. I go by Cassi here in Livejournal Land (a name I stole from my very first fully developed character) and I've been writing stories (lately it's been FanFiction, but I'm working on an original right now) for as long as I can remember. I've already had 2 poems published, but so far no stories. Right, I'm out of things to say about myself, so on to my problem...
Usually when I have to mention that my characters ate soemthing, it's food I eat normally or I just say "After they grabbed a quick bite to eat..." It's sad, I know, but I can usually get by with that. But for this particular situation, my character insists on having to survive on their own in the wilderness and doesn't have a clue when it comes to hunting. So does anyone know anything about edible plants or other food sources one can find in a forrest? I know this varries by region, but I haven't quite pinpointed where this is takeing place. I have it narrowed down to the Boundrywaters on the Minnesota/Canada border or somewhere in the mountains of North Carolina. All though I've spent quite a bit of time in both places, I really don't know much about survival there.
If anyone can help me here, I'd be greatly abliged, even if it's just a website or something pointing me in a general direction to look for information!
