Life's not fair...

True, true. I think that we all know that life is not fair, and that we have known this for quite some time. However, this is not my current ponderment. I have recently been thinking that life is not SUPPOSED to be fair. Biologically speaking, that's an obvious statement. Men grow up, mature, and feel no real change. Women, of course, have a menstruation period which, let's just say, makes things a bit uncomfortable from time to time. Of course, on the other hand, we men have to put up it.

Just kidding. :-p

Christianity, it would appear, is the same way. I have read most of the Old Testament and most of the New Testament, but it is of course possible that I simply can't remember things. The new testament speaks of the meek inheriting the world. It speaks of "turning the other cheek". It seems to be quite obsessed with taking the shit the world gives you, and using it to intentionally worsen your situation. Of course, it, along with beliving in Jesus Christ, helps you get into heaven. But that is heaven, not Earth. It seems to simply say that the world is supposed to be an unfair place and you should just live with it. The old testament talks a lot about owning people, slavery, and other unjust acts being ok. Fairness seems to be highly underrated. There are claims that God is a fair God, but I see no evidence of it. At this point it would be good to state that their is indeed a difference between fairness and justice. I can believe God is just, but not fair, at this point. That's not knocking God, however. All that is, in my opinion, is saying it the way that it is.

So, the world is not supposed to be a fair place. Is that perhaps why humans seem to be so obsessed with the idea of the world being a fair place? Children often get upset when they feel that something is unfair. Adults, too, though their upsetness concerning fairness usually takes on another form than crying, such as striking/picketing, etc.

I have more to say, but am getting tired. Any thoughts?
