"Bottom line is, even if you see 'em coming, you're not ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really, but it does... So what are we, helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come. You can't help that. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you find out who you are... You'll see what I mean."
Ugh, I love that. That episode made me so sad. And I can't watch Becoming Part 2 without being a litte teary. Even though I've seen it a thousand times.
Oh, and Kendra is .. from the Caribbean, and if you judge by her accent it's probably Jamaica, but who knows.
With that NIN song, if it WAS a Buffy reference, it is being extra clever by using the name "Annie". As in Buffy Anne Summers? Eh? Eh? Man, if I could get into songfic I would be all over this one.
Anyway, I agree about the strangeness of seeing Dru fight. Despite being a vampire, she is so characterized as a victim rather than a fighter in Buffy. Even when she got her strength back, I always thought she played such a puppet to Spike/Angel. I think the only other time on Buffy that she fights again is in Becoming pt 2, where she and Spike duke it out. She kicks a bit more ass on AtS, though, doesn't she?
Well, the song would have come out before the show, so it would have been Joss making the reference. Did we know Buffy's middle name at the time? I know that we know it in the first episode of season 3, but did we know in season 2? I can't remember.
Ah, how I love the historical flashbacks. Minus the Angel wigs-of-doom, of course. This is one of only four episodes of all BtVS/AtS where all four of our favourite vampires appear.
And now we have Darla. I remember being really shocked to see her the first time around. How old is Darla at this point?
Somewhat short of 200, precise age not known because we don't know how old she was when she died.
I love how Angel gives Dru 10 Our Fathers and an act of contrition for being a spawn of Satan.
Hee!
This is a definite departure fron the movie. Different watcher and all.
As for giving all vampires their souls back...first of all the Orb of Thesala (so not spelled right) is kinda a rare-ish item and secondly, other than Spike, why would they care enough to try. Just easier to kill the little buggers.
I think Kendra did alright with the fighting. She was doing fine until Dru- who used some major mojo on her. Also, the point of Kendra was that she was lacking some key ingredients that Buffy had.

It's the second. She falls for it in When She Was Bad.
