George W. - Father Knows Best?

I’m usually not very politically opinionated.

Bwahahahahah!

Ok, I can’t even say that with a straight face, but this post, however politically infused it may seem, is not intended to start a political debate. This post is on parenting strategies.

Let me explain...

So, I was watching the movie V for Vendetta the other night and I just couldn ( Read more... )

The funny thing is, his own children are buckwild. He might be a bad parent - he's definitely not good for the US! ;)

Well, hello again. I do believe you made the right choice...coming over to "the dark side" (aka, my journal) to comment on Bush. You probably would have been bombarded if you'd have commented from marriedlife. They do love a good debate, don't they?

Good call on the conservative women who might be offended thing, BTW!

We watched the movie the other night and discussed at length how our society is going in that direction. That was sunday. On monday, my husband went on a business trip to Texas. He is in a dry county. Bars do serve alcohol-after you sign a waiver stating you will behave. Even then, they decide how much you drink.

Yes, I am aware all of Texas is not like that. I find it outrageous! And I don't even drink. I think it is another example how our freedoms are being eroded.

Do they define 'behave'? I have a terrible time behaving in general, I just can't imagine this 'behaving' taking place after a beer or 6.

I saw some of those comments and was shocked really. If you do not want to read something, why not just scroll past it and move on?

If their views are challenged then they might have to think! The horror!

"So if we’re already using all of these proven techniques, why aren’t they effective? Why do our children continue to defy us? Why don’t Bush’s tactics work as well for us as they work for him?"

Because we love our children and genuinely want what is best for them, and they know that. They feel secure enough to be defiant. Bush's fans do not love him and feel loved by him in the way that love would exist between a child and their parents.

I actually found you through badparents. I was the bitch who called you close minded. heh

I'm glad I ended up reading more of your writing. I didn't know what to make of you after reading the first post (about your daughter, the goth phase, lip piercing). I couldn't help but read it through the eyes of the teenager I once was and the things my mother said to me about my self expression. She, however, was not being funny. I had to step back and realize I do the same with my kids, but I joke about their normalness. haha

You are very witty and a good writer. I would be happy to add you and you are more then welcome to add me back. I'm hardly a 'writer' though. I just get drunk sometimes and make long posts. :p

I remember the "close minded" comment, but didn't take it to heart...I love adversity....in fact I thrive on it (just ask my husband).

Thank you for being open minded enough to give my writing another chance.

I just finished adding you as a friend...I do so love to read other's drunken thoughts.
