I went into this movie not exactly knowing what to expect about it, but was pleasently surprised. If you like monster movies, this is a nice one, with the cameraman keeping a running comedy that often allows a tense situation to be defused. The bumping and twitching camera wasn't as much of a problem as I feared it would be (I'm very susceptible to headaches), but then I watched it on a small screen so that might have helped. My two biggest complaints were the beginning, and the monster. The beginning spends way too much time on characters that you either just can't care about or end up hating and want to see die in a messy fashion (only one does). Just cut to the monster already! And then, there's the monster. Alright, let's just call this movie what it is: Godzilla on handcam. Just admit it, guys. I would have liked the movie a lot more if they could have just admitted that it was Godzilla retooled. Instead, they had to make it seem like they were doing something creative, which they weren't.
Conclusion: If you like old-school monster movies, this is a treat. If you're looking for something creative and original, look somewhere else.
