Hi everybody,
Since it's been suggested to me that it's OK to post "classic" fics here, I thought I'd post a link to this one which I started in 1999 and finished in late 2000.
It's HUGE - over 200,000 words - so rather than try to cram it all on here, I will instead post the links to where the story lives on the HHfic.com archive.
Here's the synopsis, from the archive:
Following the disastrous mission at Muzillac, Horatio longs for peace and release from the guilt that plagues his soul. Instead he is drawn into a nightmare of ambition and intrigue when Archie is accused of murdering an officer from another ship, the H.M.S. Courageous. To win his freedom Horatio must thwart the Courageous' powerful captain, and discover the darkest secrets of Archie's past. But Archie's soul will not be freed easily, and Horatio discovers that the price of his freedom is very high indeed...
I wrote this in collaboration with another great HHfic author, Carolyn B.
Enjoy!

AUTHOR: Sarah B, with contributions by Carolyn B.

Horatio Hornblower, Archie Kennedy, Captain Pellew, the ghost of Jack
Simpson, and most of the inhabitants of the Eastern Hemisphere. Well,
that's what it FELT like while I was writing it...
RATING: PG-13 for tons of angst and memories of Jack Simpson's abuse. It has a happy ending, though, promise!!
DISCLAIMER: I don't own any of this, darn it!
