Tired Kitty

Well, I survived my first week of work!
Bad - The president is a set-in-his-ways jerk, and has no idea how to work a computer. One of my jobs is actually to print out his email, so that he can then read it! I then type up his hand-written replies and send them. Sheesh.
Good - As long as you do your job the way he wants, the Pres is extremely generous. Major bonuses every time we close a deal, and awesome gifts for birthdays and holidays.
Bad - I seem to know more about PhotoShop than my graphics supervisor. I started Thursday by giving her a lesson in changing hue and saturation in a photo.
Good - The higher-ups are aware of my capabilities, and are aware that I am giving lessons. Cori told me that she's leaving in August (the rest of the company doesn't know this yet), so I'm totally gunning for her job (in a discrete sort of way, of course).

The work is relatively interesting. I'm actually surprised to find realty brokerage so interesting. And my days are interspersed by periods of intense work and periods of total downtime, when I can take care of AUSA business or just play around on the computer.

In AUSA news, things are rolling right along. I'm starting to dole out assignments to my awesome artists, and my Assistant Director totally rocks. We had a total clusterfuck with the printing of our latest flyer. A large portion of the problems were due to my not taking the needed leadership role, and someone else jumping the gun as a result. But I've taken steps to ensure that these issues never arise again. So I'm chalking the whole thing up to a Learning Experience and tucking it away in the Dealt With file. It really annoyed me that the entire thing exploded into drama of cosplay proportions.

Tonight we went to a Tom Chapin concert! For those who don't know who Tom Chapin is, he's a folk singer. He has a lot of music that is comical, and even more with very insightful social commentary. Tom is the younger brother of Harry Chapin (you know, the dude who wrote "Cat's in the Cradle"); he's won at least three Grammies, and has been nominated so many times that I've lost track. The concert, as expected, was full of laughter, clapping, audience participation, and other folksy fun.

Um . . . I think that's it. Gotta go catch up on all my webcomics now . . .
