The new United States ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands has arrived in the Hague, and now the embassy's website proudly states

"Amb. Arnall is an active citizen and philanthropist. Amb. Arnall was a member of California's Education Task Force Committee and was a Trustee for 16 years of the California State University system, the largest university system in the world. He is founding Co-Chairman and Trustee of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Museum of Tolerance. He and his wife Dawn support dozens of animal protection, artistic, educational, medical, political, human rights, and religious organizations around the world."

It's funny how it fails to mention he has NO DIPLOMATIC EXPERIENCE whatsoever, despite the website (and that of our embassy in D.C.) raving about our fantastic bilaterial relation. I wonder why such a great relation has to be honoured with such a ridiculous travesty of the diplomatic system. Not to mention the $521,000,000 settlement his insurance company agreed upon with hundreds of people they'd weaseled out of their money. I hope the next Dutch ambassador to the United States is Patricia Paay.
